I hope you enjoy this slightly tongue-in-cheek self-portrait, I was once told "where the painting winds up when the artist passes on is the true test of a fine art portrait".  Does it reside in the attic as a painting of some old guy or is it displayed proudly with a comment perhaps like: "Yeah, that's grampa Bailey, he was quite a character, made his fortune painting commissions in Fort Worth".  OK, enough of this, getting weird!

As for my artist statement (everyone has one, you know), I have survived by doing this one thing when  able, if I don't like what I'm doing ...I stop doing it!   Don't worry, when I receive a commission or someone purchases an inventory piece, what ever the medium, I like it!

Being a portrait professional, you'll find paintings of children and animals, boats and light houses, bas relief and half-hull carvings and more.  As for mediums I prefer Oils and Watercolors, but enjoy the discovery that comes with experimentation.  I use acrylics for my murals, and  common and exotic woods for my bas relief and half-hulls ...  and am finally at peace with each.  Honor plays a large part of my artistic efforts, in that I desire to leave a heritage that my family, clients and friends will have positive comments even when I'm not around.

I am a simple man with traditional values and tastes.  I married my high school sweetheart 51 years and 8 children ago, and look forward to many, many more ...years that is.
